Heatwaves on the rise as record lows decline

It is interesting that researcher Blair Trewin from the Australian Bureau of Meterology only went back 50 years. He neatly missed the heatwaves in the 1930’s so his figures look more spectacular.

To quote from another ABC news item

The Weather Bureau says Adelaide’s hottest day on record was 46.1 degrees in January 1939.

70 years of CO2 in the atmosphere – yet we cannot beat a 70 year old record.
